Important: What This App Is Not

This is a non-PHI dental booking and patient engagement app. It handles scheduling, recalls, treatment plan presentation, payments, and reviews. It does not store, transmit, or process Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA.

What that means in practice:

  • We DO build: appointment booking, recall reminders, treatment plan acceptance (plan name + cost, no clinical details), payment collection, review prompts, office finder, patient preferences
  • We DO NOT build: clinical charting, X-ray viewing, patient medical history storage, e-prescriptions, insurance claims processing, or anything that touches diagnosis or treatment records at the clinical level

If your practice needs a HIPAA-compliant clinical portal (radiology sharing, lab results, medical records access), that is a different category of app with different compliance requirements. We will tell you that on the Discovery Sprint and recommend a specialized vendor rather than take on a build we cannot ship cleanly.

Practice Owner Questions

Does this integrate with Dentrix?

Yes. We sync scheduling data via Dentrix API or a CSV bridge (for practices on older Dentrix versions without API access). Patient books in the app, appointment appears in Dentrix. Provider changes schedule in Dentrix, app updates automatically. Same integration pattern for Eaglesoft, Open Dental, and Curve Hero.

Is this HIPAA compliant?

This app handles non-PHI dental booking and patient engagement. It does not store diagnosis, treatment records, X-rays, or clinical notes. Because it does not process PHI, HIPAA's technical safeguards (encryption-at-rest for PHI, BAAs, audit logging of PHI access) do not apply to this specific build. If you need a clinical portal that handles PHI, we will tell you on the Discovery Sprint and recommend a specialized vendor.

How much does a dental practice app cost?

Can patients pay through the app?

Yes. Stripe integration handles copays, outstanding balances, and payment plans. Patients get a push notification with the balance after their visit, tap to pay, done. Your front desk stops mailing paper invoices and chasing payments by phone.

We are acquiring practices for our DSO. Can the app scale?

Yes. The multi-location architecture supports adding offices without rebuilding. New location gets added in the admin dashboard, gets its own provider calendar and reports, and patients at that location see it as an option in the app. We have built multi-location apps that handle 2 to 15+ offices. If you are scaling past 20 locations, we discuss the Scale tier ($59,997+) for more complex permission structures.

What about our existing patients? Can we migrate them?

Yes. We import your patient list from your PMS (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, etc.) on launch day. Patients download the app and log in with their email or phone number. No manual data entry. Existing appointment history and recall schedules carry over.
